This giveaway has ended!

In May, we shared advice on how to become a better cook with posts about common cooking terms, utensils, and what to do when your recipe “fails”. We are continuing to help you build kitchen confidence this month with tips and tricks for becoming a better baker!

This month, our blogs will be dedicated to baking advice and recipes, plus we are hosting a giveaway (info on how to enter below)!

What Baking Basics is about:

Our long-time blog contributor, Anna, is helping us this month to bring you ALL the information on baking! Anna is a self-taught baker, who has experienced all the ups and downs that come with learning to bake successfully. We are excited to share new blogs and recipes to help you grow your confidence in the kitchen, whether you’re a novice or experienced baker.

We will be sharing one recipe each week, but you can find all the recipes right away by connecting with Anna’s Plan to Eat account under the username “The Little Blue Mixer”. Find the related Challenge recipes under the Course “Kitchen Confidence: Baking Basics”.

Anna will not only be sharing her knowledge on our blog, but also on our Instagram account! Be sure to follow us @plantoeat on Instagram and look for her Stories on baking (we will also save them in a highlight, for you to watch at any time!).

How to Participate:

For participation in the Challenge, simply fill out the giveaway form below! There is a separate giveaway option for residents outside the US, so please fill out the correct form.

One of the participation options is to share an image of any baked good you make in the month of September on your Instagram account! It does not have to be a recipe we share this month, any baked good is acceptable. This is not the only way to be entered into the giveaway, but we would love to see you put your new skills to the test!

When you share your picture, be sure to tag @plantoeat, @thelittlebluemixer and use the #bakingwithPTE hashtag.

  1. I love to bake but don’t use Plan to Eat to manage my baking plans. Looking forward to adding that to my meal planner!

  2. I would love to win this as I have just started making special cakes and goodies for my family’s birthdays and monthly get-togethers.

  3. Such a fantastic idea.. I love all baked goods, they are my weakness. However, I’ve been quite horrible at reproducing my favorites with gluten, egg, and dairy-free ingredients. I think this is going to help me get inspired and back into the kitchen testing the recipes!

  4. I love Plan To Eat! I have been using this for a few years. I quit for a few months but I decided to come back since it just makes my life so much easier.

  5. I love Plan To Eat. I’ve had a subscription for three years now and use it all the time. It allows me to make the most of my time, organizing the week’s meals, ingredients and of course, saving recipes so that we can try new things. I also love that I can easily change the recipe, making improvements as I repeat it, as well as my ability to rate the recipe.
So although all the prizes look amazing the one I look forward to most of all is the one year subscription to Plan to Eat!!

  6. I would love to win this prize, because I have 3 children under 3, and I desperately need help getting organized. I tried the trial of your app and absolutely loved it, there’s nothing like it! It is Genius. We are moving across the country in two weeks, and attending a new church, so this subscription would be a life saver for us! Haha. Besides, I love the bake and these are lovely prizes!

  7. I would love to win this because baking is something I’m trying to do more with my two little girls and this would be something special to honor this adventure.

  8. I’m so excited for this challenge! It will allow me to live out my Great British Bake-off dreams at home 😂 Wpuld love to win, I’ve been a long time subscriber of PTE and sing it’s praises all the time!

  9. Thanks for the amazing giveaway and for the baking basics challenge! I’d love to win because the fall is the perfect time for baking and I’m excited to learn some new skills.

  10. That pie server is absolutely lovely! I consider myself an intermediate baker, but am excited to see what instruction you all bring to the ‘table’ this month!

  11. So excited you are offering this opportunity to learn the basics of baking! I can turn out a mean pecan pie and some pretty yummy cakes but I can’t wait to learn more! I’m sure my husband will appreciate it as well, haha!

  12. I love any excuse to bake. Thank you! And I just love the look of that mug. It looks a beautiful glaze. Subscribing to Plant to Eat was one of the better things I’ve done in the last year. It really helps me menu plan and I just love being able to walk into the supermarket with a ready made list. And accessing my recipes on my phone or tablet while I’m in the kitchen is also magic. Thanks for making my life that much easier.

  13. I would like to win the prize so that I will be to put some of the skills I learn in the challenge to good use!

  14. I’m so excited about this challenge! Plan to Eat was a Christmas gift and I have absolutely loved it! My favorite thing to do in the kitchen besides eat is bake! Oatmeal chocolate chip cookies are a must. I would love to use the items from the prize to keep baking!

  15. We’d love to win is prize pack to save $ on our Plan to Eat subscription & replace some of our worn out baking supplies. I’m also excited to try out the tart pan!

  16. I love Plan to Eat as it makes meal planning so much easier, so getting a year for free sounds fantastic! The rest of the items just sound like icing on an already very awesome cake!

  17. I’m excited about becoming a better baker and I’d love some brand new tools for my kitchen. The Plan to Eat mug is a beautiful color and the perfect shape.

  18. I’d love to win! I’ve been a subscriber for several years now and Plan to Eat is my go to app for planning and recipes!

  19. This is a great giveaway with a lot of practical tools that I don’t currently own. And I would love to give the Redmond Salt products a try!

  20. I would love to win this package because my son and I have been learning to cook together and branching out into baking is the next step. I’ve already started a cookbook for him of the recipes he knows and loves (and cook on his own!).

  21. Hi! Thank you for this generous giveaway! My mom has been using Redmond Salt for years. I would love to have some in my kitchen to try out in my own baking!

  22. I would love to win because Plan to Eat has helped me organized my meals so easily. I love having my recipes in such a easy to use format.

  23. I’d love to win a year’s subscription to Plan to Eat AND to become a better baker. Thanks, PTE, for this exciting opportunity! Inspired by this month’s focus, I plan to get into the kitchen with my 12-year-old son, who thinks he might like to become a pastry chef one day.

  24. I’ll be following along this month and winning the prize package would be great. I’m a pretty good cook but baking not so much 😕 I just absolutely love my Plan to Eat account, adding and finding recipes is a breeze.

  25. I’m so excited for this giveaway! I love using Plan to Eat to help me plan our meals and I’m excited to have an excuse to try out some new baking recipes since switching to a plant-based diet.

  26. Such a generous giveaway…thank you! I would love to win this package because I LOVE everything that is included! Plus I love trying new products out, especially in the kitchen!

  27. I’d like to win this giveaway because I love cooking pans and utensils and my husband is a connoisseur of salt. I think we’d love everything here!

  28. this is such a fun giveaway! I have used PTE for years now and it really helps me stay on track with feeding my family.

  29. I really thought my own system for meal planning was all I needed, but Plan to Eat has really simplified things and made it easier for my wife to collab on meal planning.

  30. I love that my kids took up baking during the pandemic…they’d ‘zoom’ bake with their grandparents while I worked my hospital job. They’d bake the same recipe in real time over zoom. It was a nice way to make memories and keep everyone safe.

My biggest baking challenges are knowing when/how to adjust my recipe to mile high altitude in denver. I tried a new bundt cake recipe a few weeks ago and it completely overflowed the pan, then sank. It tasted great but looked awful.

  31. As the seasons change, I would like to focus on trying healthy recipes for baked goods. It seems like too many healthy recipes lack flavor or have a weird texture.

  32. I love to bake but have gotten out of the habit as life has gotten busier. This would be good motivation to start again.

  33. Looking forward to starting our Plan to Eat journey! A dear friend has been using this as a resource for years and loves it!

  34. I’d love to win this prize because, honestly it’s fun to win things. I LOVE the mug and I know all of the goodies will get used. I’m sure my kids would love to help me bake some delicious goodies using any of these things.

  35. I’d love to win this! I’m gluten and dairy free (and egg free) and look forward to inspiration this month (and hopefully some recipes that I can substitute things I can actually eat for the items on my “no no list”)!

  36. Oh my gosh, I am so excited about this giveaway!!! I’ve been watching and waiting on both your Facebook and Instagram accounts looking for when you would do another mug giveaway, and this particular giveaway includes something I’ve ALWAYS wanted since I registered for my wedding gifts 25 years ago…a sterling silver utensil!!! Oh, I hope I win!

  37. What a fun challenge. I would love to win this package. I am a long-time user of Redmond Real Salt and the Plan to Eat website/app has been a big-time and life saver for my family of six. I am self-taught in baking as well, and always looking for tips to increase what I already know.

  38. We’ve been using Plan to Eat for several years now and couldn’t manage meal planning without it! I love these challenges and giveaways. I’d like to win this prize package because I don’t have a tart pan and I’d like to start cooking tarts 🙂 Also the mug looks awesome.

  39. My daughter and I *love* to bake and share with our friends and family. I started Plan to Eat this past year and it has been really awesome, I feel so much more organized. This prize package looks really great and would be wonderful to start my daughter’s kitchen collection.

  40. I consider myself a baker, not a cook, probably because I enjoy savoring the results of my baking efforts more than my cooking. I am retiring at the end of this month and look forward to having time to bake more often. It would be wonderful to have these new products to use.

  41. In 2020 when news reports and advertising were geared to all the “free” time everyone had for home projects, baking, spending quality time with family, etc., I thought there must be something wrong with me because I did not have all that free time. I was working way too many hours and doing online school with my daughter. I am grateful to have a job and that I could help my daughter, but it was an exhausting year on so many levels (not that it’s changed much in 2021). I am absolutely ready to do some baking this fall, and get my daughter and me back into a more normal groove with life. This challenge seems like the perfect push to get me started.

  42. Me and my husband used to live in married student housing, we just moved to our first real apartment and are building our kitchen, among all other areas, to be functional and beautiful. We’d love to bake more together and this would help us do just that. It would be wonderful to finally have a pie pan and learn his favorite recipe from his mom.
Looking forward to the winner announcement either way, as I’m grateful to have an opportunity to enter the giveaway regardless of outcome!

  43. I love to bake and there are lots of great things in this giveaway! My pie server just broke (it was a wedding gift), so it would be lovely to win this one.

  44. I would love to win this prize because I am working at rebuilding my baking gear with better quality items after a cross country move.

  45. The prize package has some nice things in it. The free sun for a year to PTL would be a help to me.
    Suzanne Allen

  46. I’d love to win because Plan to Eat has made meal planning easy and flexible. I can’t imagine feeding my teens without it.

  47. I love, LOVE, my Plan to Eat subscription, and if I won I would love to share it by buying another one for a friend because I’m planning on keeping it going anyway so a free year for me would really be a free one for a friend! 🙂
Also my husband and I love and use Redmond Salts all the time!

  48. I love PlantoEat and would love to have the items above as I would love to improve my baking with great ingredients and tools!

  49. I would like to win the prize package because I love Redmond Real Salt and would love to receive these nice items.

  50. Plan-to-Eat adds the convenience of an awesome recipe manager to its function as a meal planner. The unique mug an tea towel would be great visual/ useful reminders to plan and… who does not want fancy baking supplies?!

  51. I love to bake, have since I was little baking with my grandmother who taught me. I don’t usually enter things like this but it looked interesting.

  52. I’d love to win because I love to bake, I love swag, and I love Plan to Eat, and this giveaway has all of that! Thanks!

  53. I love this giveaway. I already love to bake, but I am always open to new recipes and techniques. And, who doesn’t like pretty new things to use in their kitchen. I look forward to trying some of the recipes from the challenge soon. And who knows….maybe I will end up with the tart pan and cool mug?

  54. I love plan to eat for an easy way to save recipes i Google instead of having to search through hundreds. I intend to use the grocery list part of it once I can get back on my feet from constant lockdown challenges with small kids 😅 🙃. Thx

  55. I’m still kinda learning how to make meal planning a habit and having an additional year free of plan to eat would help me a lot. I started off great and then started slacking.

  56. I love baking and haven’t done it for awhile. I’m looking forward to learning new techniques and refining old ones. Plan to Eat is a great tool. Saves me money!

  57. I started using Plan to Eat after moving to a tiny rural town. We only grocery shop once a month (when we head to town) and I was struggling to remember everything. PTE made it so easy to plan for the entire month and populates my grocery list with no issue. So grateful for this service!!

  58. I have been using PTE for a few years now. Absolutely love it!

Planning my meal plans every week and going shopping once a week for all my ingredients has really organized me and actually has created extra time on my hands because I’m not constantly going to the store because “I forgot something”…

  59. I absolutely LOVE Plan to Eat! Although I’m a good cook I’m not a good baker at all. Looking forward to learning new techniques to help.

  60. I love to bake, but I really have only ever baked savory breads. I have not ventured out into the world of sweets. I’ve been a little intimidated by it because it takes more ingredients than most breads (flour, yeast, water, and salt). I’ve never even made a cake from scrath.
I’d love to win the giveaway, mostly for the tart pan and PTE mug & towel. I don’t have a pie or tart pan, and I’m hoping to bake some during this challenge.

  61. Love that Plan to Eat mug! And the tart pan, and the pie server, and the spatulas . . . Thanks for a great giveaway!

  62. I’ve been a Plan to Eat member since 2010. My kids are big fans although they don’t have subscriptions, yet… I’d like to gift them this subscription if I win.

  63. I love using Plan To Eat to organize our meals each month but haven’t used it much for baking. Would love to change that and get better at baking!

  64. The dessert section in my PTE is pretty large. 🙂 I love to bake and the kids love to eat, so it works out well!

  65. I have just begun to really start baking during the pandemic and would love to win the giveaway to add to my toolbox so to speak! Thanks for the opportunity!

  66. I would love to win this prize pack because I’m loving using Plan to Eat to make sure my meal planning and recipes are all in one place! I would also love to have Plan to Eat SWAG and a tart pan!!! Can’t wait!!!

  67. I would be so grateful to win, during the pandemic I spent some time baking bread which was the activity that introduced me to baking. The pie server and tart pan would definitely inspire me to try new recipes!

  68. Plan to Eat has been a great and simple way to collect recipes of all types, manually or found online, and keep them organized at my fingertips. The added features of the shopping lists and link to grocery store are also helpful. I love the ability to change the amount of servings needed if we’re having company and for all of the measurements to be automatically updated. It’s very easy to add recipes from other websites, as well as to share recipes with friends. I’ve been a user for about 2 years now and am very happy. Keep up the good work!

  69. I use (so helpful) and enjoy Plan to Eat. My child likes to learn to cook, including taking on a layered cake recently. We would make good use of and appreciate if we were winners. 😊

  70. I went out and read about Real Salt. I will be buying their salt products due to their incredible mission and that this is US based.

  71. I love using Plan to Eat, especially to organize recipes from the web and to share recipes amongst friends. I would love a free year’s subscription and could always use an Amazon gift card!

  72. I love using PTE to organize recipes from the web and to share recipes amongst friends. I would appreciate this swag you are offering!

  73. I love baking, and I love sharing what I bake with people I love! Plan To Eat has so many resources that I can use to find new recipes to share more treats with my loved ones, and it’s so convenient!

  74. I love uing Plan to Eat! I am a new empty nester and I now have more time to BAKE! I would love to win this prize as all the products look amazing and that coffee mug is to.die.for!
